Passe Coco

The eastern side of Bird Island is protected by a fringing reef, clearly visible where waves break just offshore.

On the landward side of the reef is Passe Coco Beach and its lagoon, which is usually calm due to the protection afforded by the reef. The lagoon is shallow with the water overlying sand and coral debris. The sand supports large patches of thalassia sea grass – important feeding ground for young fish and turtles.

Compared to the others, this stretch of beach has coral rubble and hence it is advisable to wear shoes when walking along this area.

TIP: Wake up early and go to Passe Coco to see an unforgettable sunrise.
