North Point

North of Bird Island is the most northerly point of the Seychelles Bank. Where it ends, 5km offshore, the sea bed drops to 1,000 metres.

The sandy beach of the North Point is highly mobile with annual cycles of erosion and deposition. At times during the south-east monsoon, which runs from June to October, a long spit pointing north-west develops; while at other times the spit is eroded and sand is distributed on both the north-east and north-west coasts.
