Travelling to Bird Island
How do I get to Bird Island?
There is a scheduled flight between Bird Island and the main island of Mahé Monday and Friday afternoons. Your seat on this flight is booked and confirmed along with your room reservation.
How long is the flight?
The flight is approximately 30 minutes.
What time does the flight from Mahé to Bird Island depart?
Our flight departs from Mahé at 14:00, with check-in at 13:00 at the Mahé Domestic Terminal. You will reach Bird Island at approximately 14:30. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated to you accordingly.
What time does the flight from Bird Island to Mahé depart?
The flight from Bird Island Island departs at 14:45 and reaches Mahé at approximately 15:15.
What is the luggage restriction for these flights?
15 kg per person.
Can I purchase excess luggage?
Unfortunately, this is not possible for our flights. However, excess baggage may be accepted on the same flight depending on space availability or forwarded on next available flight (for stays longer than 1 week).
Is there a luggage storage facility at the Mahé Airport?
It may be possible for excess luggage to be stored at the airport police station. Kindly enquire at time of booking. Bags must be clearly tagged and locked.
Must I carry soft luggage only?
Due to the aircraft’s size, luggage space is limited. Thus, soft luggage is recommended as this allows greater flexibility to accommodate everyone’s luggage.
Who operates the flights between Mahé and Bird Island?
Our flights are mainly operated by Zil Air, using a Vulcan Air or Tecnam Traveller aircraft; but at times Air Seychelles undertakes our flights, using a Twin Otter aircraft.
Can we organise a private flight to Bird Island?

What is a Villa Compound?
A Villa Compound is made up of 1-3 Bedrooms and 1 Outdoor Lounge/Kitchen. Every Compound is Private.
What are the booking options?
There are 7 available Villa Compounds, 6 of which have 2 Bedrooms and one of which has 3 Bedrooms. The rate of the villa depends on the number of Bedrooms you want. For further information Click Here.
If I booked a 1 Bedroom Villa, will I have to share my Outdoor Lounge with another Guest?
No, all Villa Compounds are Private, regardless of the number of bedrooms booked.
Can I share a Villa?
Yes, a 3 Bedroom Villa can accommodate up to 6 adults.

Is there WIFI on Bird Island?
Free WIFI is available.
Is there mobile phone network?
There is no mobile phone network on the island; however, calls may be made via our landline.
Is babysitting available?
No, babysitting cannot be arranged.
Is there a shop on the island?
The Island Store is open in the mornings, and can be opened on request throughout the day, providing you with the necessities you will need for your stay. For further information Click Here.
What if I have any allergies?
If you have any allergies please inform the reservations team upon booking so that the hotel is advised accordingly.
Can I make payments by Card on the island?
Yes you can.

Health & Safety
Are there dangerous animals on Bird Island?
There are no dangerous animals on the Island.
What happens if there is a medical emergency?
We have trained First Aid staff on the island to assist guests; and we are able to arrange a helicopter evacuation should this become necessary. *Being a small, isolated island with an airstrip that is only licensed for daytime operations, we would discourage anyone with serious health concerns from visiting the island.
